666 (often referred to as the Mark of the Beast), has an interesting mythology behind it. Many people often wonder about what is the 666 as well as how it relates to our us. We first hear about it in Revelation 13:16-18:"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."So what is the 666? Where does it originates from? What does it mean?

666 represents the fundamental number of a man. The number 6 falls one short of God's perfect number, 7, and symbolize human imperfection. Antichrist, the most powerful human the world will ever know, will still be a man - a 6. The ultimate in human and demonic power is a 6, not perfect, as God is."¹

In 1984 many magazines, especially in Australia, picked up a story that stated 6000 Swedes had received an invisible mark to use for all transactions with their banks. But thorough inquiry in Sweden revealed absolutely nothing. However, a serious research through a wide range of sources can soon put paid to popular misconception. For many centuries, the unusual number 666 has been a thorn in the side for Bible detectives. Because the prophet John first received "revelation" from Jesus Christ on the Isle of Patmos circa A.D90, six sixty six has been a point of religious division, debate and also conjecture.

However, Bible readers would definitely not have been told to keep their eye out for number, man and beast if there had been no hope of unraveling the mysterious secret. Many of the pieces to this end-time jigsaw can be found in Revelation 13, 17 as well as 18 and in Daniel 2, 3 as well as 7. Having been shown our error, we are pointed to the "higher calling in Christ Jesus". We all individually have the 666 potential. This can manifest in a materialistic, domineering, dictatorial, animal nature that thrives on energy games, lust, or perhaps possession as well as position.

Jesus himself was as soon as offered the job as leader over all the countries of the world. But it was certainly not his time. "As well as the Devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all of the kingdoms of the world in a moment in time (Luke 4:5). Kingdoms of the world totals 3996 (666 x 6).

We all have the 666 potential, but we also all have the potential to be strong enough to defy it and be the best version of ourselves that we can. We all make mistakes, the trick is to learn from them and overcome your weaknesses. Just as bravery is not the lack of fear but the ability to carrie on through it.
