What is the 666

666 (often referred to as the Mark of the Beast), has an interesting mythology behind it. Many people often wonder about what is the 666 as well as how it relates to our us. We first hear about it in Revelation 13:16-18:"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666."So what is the 666? Where does it originates from? What does it mean?

what is the 666

666 represents the fundamental number of a man. The number 6 falls one short of God's perfect number, 7, and symbolize human imperfection. Antichrist, the most powerful human the world will ever know, will still be a man - a 6. The ultimate in human and demonic power is a 6, not perfect, as God is."1

POPULARISED CONSPIRACY theory, literal interpretation of Bible prophecy as well as rumour mongering have given the number 666 a great odious reputation.

In 1984 many magazines, especially in Australia, picked up a story that stated 6000 Swedes had received an invisible mark to use for all transactions with their banks. But thorough inquiry in Sweden revealed absolutely nothing. The story was indeed yet another 'end-time' hoax and most certainly not the implementation of the mysterious mark of the beast or perhaps 666.

Many are frightened by such an international numbering system that will brand us on the "right hand of forehead" as if "we had been so many cattle". Movies such as the Omen series depicted a particular individual born to fulfill the "anti-Christ" prophecies. The main character, Damien, even had the number as a birthmark in his head.

However, a serious research through a wide range of sources can soon put paid to popular misconception. For many centuries, the unusual number 666 has been a thorn in the side for Bible detectives. Because the prophet John first received "revelation" from Jesus Christ on the Isle of Patmos circa A.D90, six sixty six has been a point of religious division, debate and also conjecture.

However, Bible readers would definitely not have been told to keep their eye out for number, man and beast if there had been no hope of unraveling the mysterious secret. Many of the pieces to this end-time jigsaw can be found in Revelation 13, 17 as well as 18 and in Daniel 2, 3 as well as 7. As we unravel the threads to "mystery 666" the first priority is to read the scriptures involved.

We imput meaning

However, I would warn against naming the Pope or any kind of individual as inheritor of the horrors of 666. I recommend the mystical number instead as it speaks to all of us. At the end we imput meaning into what can help us lead a better life and interpet it in a way that is useful to us and that we can relate to.

It clearly points out that humankind without God has missed the mark (sinned). We have fallen brief of just what we tend to be meant to be.

Having been shown our error, we are pointed to the "higher calling in Christ Jesus". We all individually have the 666 potential. This can manifest in a materialistic, domineering, dictatorial, animal nature that thrives on energy games, lust, or perhaps possession as well as position.

Six six six is the ultimate sinful Godless system or person. Six falls brief of God's ideal amount 7. Six is the "number of the beast" (animal nature) pursuing just self interest as well as gratification for the five senses. 666 is material activity instead of spiritual - it is works without faith.

Six sixty six governs the lower universe under the name Lucifer, who disguising himself as an angel of light, brings subtle erosion and deception pleasingly packaged.

Triple six is tyranny and self willed government. It is the electrical attractive power of the dictator that drums up hysterical help for his destructive ends.

Six six six is Rome and all Caesars, past present and future, that are just interested in energy (income as well as influence) and the damage of all Christian principles.

Jesus himself was as soon as offered the job as leader over all the countries of the world. But it was certainly not his time. "As well as the Devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him all of the kingdoms of the world in a moment in time (Luke 4:5). Kingdoms of the world totals 3996 (666 x 6).

Satan mentioned "all of these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me personally." Now if Christ turned down the position (he would definitely have had to by-pass the cross) then what lesser man can be trusted with it? - Keith Newman

We all have the 666 potential, but we also all have the potential to be strong enough to defy it and be the best version of ourselves that we can. We all make mistakes, the trick is to learn from them and overcome your weaknesses. Just as bravery is not the lack of fear but the ability to carrie on through it.
